Craig, our director of digital operations, is manning what he calls "development sprints" - every Friday he releases a new series of improvements to the Relationship Masters Academy site. We meet on Mondays to talk through what makes that list.
What a great model for getting stuff accomplished! I love the idea of a month of "development sprints" to move a specific project forward. Why not?

Lessons from San Francisco's homeless: "It's a new way of hating. It's about being straight with people. The dictionary defines hate as hostility, but that's heavy. My idea is to be straight about negative feelings that we all have, which is what hate is, and then you can have a real conversation. Don't be threatening or angry or snotty - just straight."

Hi, Sara...Is there any chance that you or Craig could be a bit more specific about how a "development sprint" works? Sounds like a great Best Practice to add to our day-to-day management process. Thanks.
Peter
Hi Peter,
Development sprints are part of the Scrum development framework. You can read all about it at many places online, but the Wikipedia entry is as good a place to start as any: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrum_%28development%29
The main premise is that the big development picture is broken up into little chunks of deliverable, incremental features. That way, we keep quickly releasing things and there's a method to keep us focused.
