I pinged three people today after watching the video clip.

The first ping was to a business colleague that I had not spoken to in a couple of years. I know she will be attending a conference this week and I asked her to spend a few minutes with a member of my team who will also be there. She asked me to follow up with her by phone this evening because she had been thinking about reaching out to me as well. GMTA!

The second was with a friend from college with whom I was close many years ago. I asked him if we could reconnect and have dinner when I am in his area next. Pings are not only good staying in touch with business colleagues, they also help you build and maintain important relationships in your personal life. However, ultimately, isn't all business personal?

My final ping was to Keith Ferrazzi. My company hired Ferrazzi Greenlight a few years ago to help with an industry marketing project. I got to meet Keith at that time. Of course, he made an instant impression on me and I've relied on his advice to build and nuture my network ever since.

I think I'm going to make "Three Pings" a part of my weekly routine!

I was hoping you would explain what a ping even is. What is it? I thought this was a primer.

Great article. I heard you talk about Pinging when you spoke to our Avon Management conference back in April and loved it. But have gotten busy or lazy and fallen off the wagon a bit.

Read this and watched the video and went straight to my email and pinged 3 folks!

Thanks for the reminder!

Great video. Love the concept of pinging.

I did as you asked and pinged three people. One was a gentleman from my town who had blessed my kids today with an unexpected gift, and I wanted to thank him. I also let him know that we used it as an opportunity to teach them a bit about sowing and reaping as they had just purposefully performed a kind act for someone last week.

Next I pinged a friend and business associate about a real estate deal that I thought was dead in the water, but now looks as though it is trying to revive itself; and finally I pinged a cousin of my wife who has been on a business trip trying to drum up new business. I wanted to see how his trip went.

Without your prompting, I would not have done those by any means tonight. Thanks.
