Market Yourself Successfully with Social Media

Posted on June 17th, 2009 by admin

On Day 28 of Keith's WGYB Road Show, Carlos del Rio from www.agillian.com discusses his top 3 rules as a social media marketer. You can read
a summary of his points on social media excellence after the jump.

1. Have a username that represents your brand.

2. Use the 60-30-10 Rule:
*10% Marketing copy
*30% Messaging
*60% Just be yourself

3. Have a conversation with an engaged "follower" or "commenter" at least once a week.

Follow these rules, and you're already way ahead of the social media curve.

  1. Jewelry in the nostrils is quite a put-off in a close-up. I am not likely to value the advice of such a person.

  2. first: great take on some Social Media tools based on the text list.
SECOND: Addressing the comment by Al. You should consider attending one of Keith's seminars and/or reading the book. Your comment above is a prejudice based on appearance. Jewelery has something to do with a credible message? about being human?

  3. I agree with Jeff. Solid, helpful information on social media. Carlos comes through as knowledgeable, experienced and authentic--which is essentially the message he is offering.

  4. Love the 60-30-10 rule -- speaks to the ideal that being yourself is possible, even on the Web. Question for Jeff: And what is that social media ideal for authenticity? New rules for new platforms, perhaps?

    Thanks Keith for posting these!

  5. Nice list.

I've found that if you just be who you are, most everything else will fall into place rather easily.

    Thanks for posting.
